Abstract
THE SELLER PROPOSED TO INVESTIGATE A NOVEL TECHNIQUE WHICH WOULD ALLOW THE REALIZATION OF A COMPACT, LOW COST, ONE DIMENSION SCANNED PHASED ARRAY WITH BROADBAND, MILLIMETER WAVE, DUAL-POLARIZATION CAPABILITY SUCH AS MIGHT BE REQUIRE D IN ELECTRONIC WARFARE POLARIMETRIC RADAR, SEEKER AND ELINTAPPLICATIONS. PREVIOUS DATA IS PROVIDED TO SHOW PERFORMANCE ALREADY OBTAINED BY A SIMILAR UNIT IN A FREQUENCY SCALED VERSION. THE WORK PROPOSED UNDER PHASE I WILL RESULT IN THE DEVELOPMENT OF MECHANICAL PACKAGING CONFIGURATIONS FOR COMPLETE PLANAR ARRAYS THAT PROVIDE ELECTRONIC SCAN IN ONE DDIMENSION. DURING PHASE I IT IS EXPECTED THAT MOST FEASIBILITY ECPERIMENTS REQUIRING COMPONENTS ARE ALREADY AVAILABLE AND WHERE FABRICATION COSTS ARE LOWER. DURING PHASE II THE DEVELOPMENT OF A FULLY OPERATIONAL MILLIMETER- WAVE PHASED ARRAY ANTENNA IS ANTICIPATED. THIS ARRAY WILL IMPLEMENT THE ELEMENT DESIGN AND ONE OF THE ARRAY PACKAGING CONFIGURATIONS DEVELOPED DURING PHASE I.
