Abstract
This SBIR project addresses the Army's need for development of a high performance, low cost, reduced size, weight and power consumption (SWaP) beam steering array antenna that operates at the Ku-band frequency range with multiple simultaneous beam capability. In response to this need, EMAG Technologies proposes to develop a Ku-band wafer-scale digital beamforming (DBF) array based on revolutionary concepts in packaging and three-dimensional integration. The proposed system will comprise stacked high-resistivity silicon wafers each with a different functionality. EMAG Technologies proposes to develop a novel micromachined RF front end that will combine an antenna array, monolithic microwave integrated circuits (MMIC), and digital beamforming on a tile of array elements where each element forms a miniaturized multi-chip structure.
