Abstract

An integrated Pulse Detonation Engine (PDE)and Airframe Transient Cycle Analysis and Airframe Performance (PDE-CAASP) code is proposed for development based upon the successful development of a PDE Transient Cycle Analysis Code during Phase-I. The Integrated PDE/Airframe code will include flight dynamics, aerodynamics, weight & Stucture, mission, and PDE propulsion models to set and predict the integrated PDE/Airframe performance for selected warefighting missions. The new PDE-CAASP code will be very efficient, cost-effective, and rapid to provide estimates of the potential PDE-powerd air vehicles over existing ramjet and turbine-powered flight vehicles and as such the PDE-CAASP code will be very unique and represents a new enabling technology for the US Navy.
