Abstract

During the Phase I effort, Phase Sensitive Innovations has made great progress in reducing the risk in developing a novel liquid crystal polymer (LCP) based automotive radar technology, which is capable of meeting the needs set forth by this solicitation. During this effort, PSI designed and simulated the proposed antenna array which yields a 0.1 degree angular resolution and uses the 77-81 GHz frequency band dictated by the FCC. The system leverages commercially available components and the flexibility of LCP to achieve low cost and conformability. In this Phase II effort we will demonstrate a reliable, low cost, mmW detection and collision avoidance system for vehicles which operate in DVE. The system will be a significant improvement to commercially available sensors, with enhanced field of view, range, and angular resolution.
