Abstract
ErisTech, a minority owned small certified defense contracting business based in San Diego, proposes a solution that will explore "best of breed" energy collection and storage techniques for surveillance airships in the stratosphere. Phase I work will consist of developing the most efficient power system (e.g. highest power output, lowest weight). Top priority issues will include energy density, fuel efficiency and availability, and atmospheric conditions. At the end of Phase I, a design concept will be written for a 24 hour continous energy solution involving multiple energy systems and utilizing energy sources found naturally in the stratosphere. We will also look into the feasibility of creating a solar hydrogen solution and a next generation nano-scale solar panel that covers the infrared, visible, and ultraviolet light spectrum to create an ultra-efficient photovoltaic cell.
