Research Institution
The development of a see-through Augmented Reality (AR) prototype to create realistic simulated human avatar overlays in lieu of standard silhouette representations offers the potential to revolutionize basic rifle marksmanship training. This technology used in coordination with a Location of Miss or Hit (LOMAH) on a live fire range supports consistent target representation independent of terrain and advanced training techniques such as intelligent target behavior and realistic, adaptable target shapes/images. The Phase II project will create a working prototype for use in field training environments. This prototype, including a headset with integrated sensors, processor, and software application, will be integrated with the LOMAH sensor and display both silhouette targets and realistic human avatars.
