Abstract
Triton will develop a low-cost approach for improving the performance of the Directional Frequency Analysis and Recording (DIFAR) sonobuoy upper section. Triton at a minimum will adhere to the following requirements: upper section stack height limited to 15 inches or less, integration of the miniature NATO transceiver, miniaturization of upper electronics, sonobuoy settings programmable over UHF after deployment, employ a high-strength cable pack, will not require a Sonobuoy Launch Canister for deployment. The Triton team will also ensure that the new DIFAR upper section is fully compliant with the Production Sonobuoy Specification.
