AbstractA beam position measurement system is one of the fundamental prerequisites for the successful operation of an accelerator. While large-scale accelerator facilities routinely develop these systems in-house, such systems have been out of reach for many small accelerator facilities, due to their complexity and cost. A complete solution for the integrated measurement of beam charge, position, and phase is still lacking. This project will develop a compact, economical beam charge, position, and phase electronics board, with easy signal readout, aimed at the small scale accelerator facility. Phase I will include fabrication and testing of an L-band beam pickup device with a bandpass filter, along with the fabrication and bench testing of a prototype electronics circuit board. Commercial Applications and other Benefits as described by the awarde:e The DOE sponsors many small accelerator programs that would benefit from the availability of the beam measurement system. Moreover, the market for small accelerators in industry and medicine dwarfs that for research machines.
