Abstract
Weather plays an important role in the effectiveness of Directed Energy (DE) laser weapon systems. In the proposed program, Guidestar Optical Systems (Guidestar) will develop a DE Decision Aid that uses weather data available from Government and commercial sources, combined with information about the DE system, the location of the DE system, terrain data, and validated DE performance models to estimate DE system performance at the current or future time.Guidestar will utilize and build upon existing weather data sources, DE performance modeling tools, and terrain databases to develop a DE Decision Aid architecture that will support combat operations and is compliant with USAF security and information assurance guidelines.
