Abstract
The goal of this research is to synthesize a new type of fluorinated polymer resins to be used for aircraft coatings. Reactive difunctional monomers containing relatively long perfluoroalkyl branches will be synthesized by direct fluorination. We hope to demonstrate that the new resins containing relatively long perfluoroalkyl branches provide the ultimate protection against severe weather conditions by a fluorocarbon layer consisting of the perfluoroalkyl branch sites.
