Metamagnetics proposes to demonstrate innovative methods of protecting receivers from large interference signals and associated intermodulation distortion (IMD) products. This solution will be applicable to a wide variety of fielded and next-generation tactical communications radios. First, we will conduct a systems study to evaluate the trade space of state-of-the-art (SOTA) hardware and software approaches of interference mitigation. Second, leveraging the results of this study, we will develop a plan to integrate a new interference mitigation technology currently under development at Metamagnetics that complements the SOTA and provides improved receiver resiliency, extended dynamic range, and advanced interference mitigation capability. At the end of Phase 1, we will deliver a wideband radio front-end architecture that demonstrates proof-of-feasibility of improved interference and IMD mitigation and will serve as technical foundation for Phase II hardware development.
