Abstract
The proposed Phase II program will define, design, manufacture, and test an active PZT composite interceptor missile optical bench and electronic control system to dampen vibration in the optical guidance components. FMI will utilize design criteria fromcurrent interceptor missile programs such as THAAD to develop an active composite vibration reduction system analagous to the PZT fiber composite studied under the Phase I program. The system will be demonstrated by dynamic tests based on missile flightstress profiles. Manufacturing techniques and associated costs will be reported at the end of the program.
