Abstract
The Air Force has recognized that the future of networking relies on wireless technology that offers the capabilities of rapid deployment, mobile operations and increased productivity. In particular, in most environments faced by the warfighter, the only reasonable method of communications is wireless. With the increasing deployment of IEEE 802.11 compliant wireless networks, concerns regarding security, reliability and performance need to be addressed. In this Phase II SBIR project Fidelity Comtech will demonstrate the applicability of using a small, low-cost Phased Array Terminal in achieving enhanced broadband connectivity of forward deployed forces. Specifically this project will demonstrate enhanced network security by restricting physical access to the network. A further benefit will be reduced interference and increased reach that result from focusing the signal.
