AbstractFlorida Turbine Technologies proposes the development of an Airfoil Replaceable Leading Edge for the repair of Integrally Bladed Rotors. The phase 2 program will design a first stage fan rotor with an Airfoil Replaceable Leading Edge feature. The design process will include typical Finite Element Analysis plus LS-Dyna analysis of Foreign Object Damage (FOD) capability. The design will also have Fracture Mechanics analysis of a High Cycle Fatigue crack. The design will include considerations for manufacturing and repair using this new technology. Leading edge bonding material will be characterized to define properties for design analysis. Removal and replacement of the leading edge will be demonstrated. The program will conclude with a static FOD impact demonstration and dynamic spin to prove the structural integrity leading to further engine and flight testing.
