Abstract
The diagnosis of Plasmodium sp. has traditionally been performed by microscope. It is our intent to modify the procedure to allow diagnosis of the malaria parasite by the detection of metabolic products of the parasite by enzyme techniques. Thus the diagnostic assay for Plasmodium sp. will be dependent on an alteration of the metabolism of the parasite rather than a visual measurement of parasite multiplication.
