Abstract
GEO-CENTERS, INC. PROPOSES A PHASE I CONCEPTUAL DESIGN OF MULTISENSOR SYSTEM FOR THE DETECTION, LOCATION, IDENTIFICATION, AND STATUS OF UNEXPLODED ORDNANCE (UXO) USED AGAINST BOTH PAVED AND UNPAVED AIRFIELD SURFACES. BASED ON OUR EXPERIENCE IN MULTISENSOR UXO DETECTION, WE BELIEVE A SYSTEM OF BOTH MOBILE AND EMBEDDED SENSORS CAN RAPIDLY AND ACCURATELY ACCOMPLISH THIS GOAL. ROUTINE AREA SURVEYS WILL ESTABLISH REQUIRED SENSOR CALIBRATION AND REGISTRATION, AS WELL AS PROVIDING A VALUABLE BACKGROUND DATA BASE. DATA FUSION ALGORITHMS WILL IDENTIFY MOST LIKELY TARGET TYPE BASED ON MULTISENSOR DATA. INTERACTIVE ROUTINES WILL PROVIDE ACCESS TO THE DEVELOPED AIRFIELD ATTACK MUNITIONS/OBSTACLE DATA BASE FOR ADDITIONAL UXO IDENTIFICATION, STATUS, AND RECOMMENDED RECOVERY PROCEDURE. OUTPUT REPORTS AND MAPS WILL HELP FIELD COMMANDERS ASSESS THEIR SITUATION AND EFFICIENTLY DIRCT RECOVERY PROCEDURS TO CLEAR MINIMUM OPERATING SURFACES.
