Abstract
THE PROJECT INVOLVES THE DEVELOPMENT OF A LOW COST, HIGH SURFACE AREA CORROSION-RESISTANT CATALYST SUPPORT. TWO ALTERNATIVE PREPARATION PROCEDURES WILL BE EVALUATED, AND RESISTANCE TO CORROSION WILL BE INTRODUCED TO THE BASE MATERIAL THROUGH SELECTIVE DOPING WITH HIGHLY CORROSION-RESISTANT MATERIALS. AFTER PREPARATION AND CHARACTERIZATION, THE SUPPORT MATERIALS WILL HAVE CATALYST DEPOSITED ON THEM AND THEN BE EVALUATED FOR OXYGEN REDUCTION ACTIVITY IN HOT, CONCENTRATED PHOSPHORIC ACID.
