Abstract
The importance of wireless network security cannot be overemphasized. Unlike a wired network, all communications in a wireless network are broadcast by nature, meaning that anyone in the transmission range can either receive the signals not intended for him/her, or inject unauthorized signals into the network. Wireless information assurance (IA) is therefore of paramount importance to the healthy development of wireless technologies. Various forms of wireless information assurance measures have been proposed and implemented, achieving limited success. During Phase I, GIRD Systems and its partners developed a novel approach for wireless IA measures based on promising near future communications waveforms. In this Phase II proposal the same team proposes to implement, test, and demonstrate the developed approach in hardware. The GIRD solution to improved wireless network security offers the real potential of achieving wireless IA to a very high degree that has not been achievable by any other existing methods.
