THE WORK PROPOSED IN THIS PHASE I EFFORT WILL DETERMINE THE PERFORMANCE ENVELOPE OF TWO NON-ACOUSTIC SYSTEMS EMPLOYED FOR DIFFERENT APPLICATIONS: 1) A LASER RADAR SYSTEM USED FOR UNDERWATER TARGET TRACKING, AND 2) AN EXTREMELY LOW FREQUENCY (ELF) MAGNETIC SYSTEM USED FOR UNDERWATER COMMUNICATION. PERFORMANCE TRADE-OFF STUDIES TO BE CONDUCTED WILL CONSIST OF PARAMETRIC ANALYSES OF THE PERFORMANCE VARIABLES AND COMPONENTS.
