Abstract
THE PROPOSED PROGRAM PRESENTS A PLAN TO DEVELOP THE PRELIMINARY DESIGN OF A SECONDARY THERMOELECTRIC POWER PLAN THAT CAN BE USED IN THE COAST GUARD'S MAJOR AIDS TO NAVIGATION. THIS DESIGN WILL TAKE THE SPECIFIC NEEDS OF THE COAST GUARD INTO CONSIDERATION. THIS INCLUDES POWER LEVEL, SIZE, COST, AND RELIABILITY GOALS. THE DESIGN WILL USE AS MUCH OF THE TECHNOLOGY RELATED TO POWER SYSTEMS OF THIS TYPE AS IS CURRENTLY AVAILABLE IN ORDER TO MINIMIZE THE R AND D REQUIRED TO DEVELOP A GENERATOR SYSTEM.
