Abstract
A METHOD IS PROPOSED FOR THE METALLIZATION OF MACHINEABLE GLASS-CERAMICS BY THE APPLICATION OF THIN FILM ACTIVE METALS WHICH WILL THEN PERMIT BRAZING OF CERAMIC-TO-METAL AND CERAMIC-TO-CERAMIC ASSEMBLIES. THROUGH PROPER CONTROL AND APPLICATIONS OF THE ACTIVE METAL IT WILL BE POSSIBLE TO OVERCOME THE PROBLEMS WHICH ARE USUALLY ENCOUNTERED IN THE USE OF ACTIVE METAL BRAZING OF CERAMIC-TO-METAL SEALS AND IN THE USE OF HIGH TEMPERATURE MOLYBDENUM-MANGANESE METALLIZING.
