Abstract
STATE-OF-THE-ART INTERFACING BETWEEN THE AIRCRAFT AND AVIONICS WILL BE PROVEN THROUGH RESEARCH OF THE FOLLOWING TARGET AREAS: IMPROVED SHOCK AND VIBRATION CONTROL BY INCORPORATING THE BOX-MOUNT FLOATING BEAM ISOLATION SYSTEM. THE FLOATING BEAM IS A MULTI-DIRECTIONAL ISOLATION SYSTEM OFFERING ENHANCED PROTECTION IN ALL ATTITUDES OF FLIGHT. DISTRIBUTING FREQUENCIES TO THE RACK ARE REDUCED OR ELIMINATED. SEPARATE TRAY SYSTEMS THAT IMPROVE CONNECTOR MATEABILITY, INCREASE AIRFLOW EFFICIENCY, CREATE GREATER TRAY STRENGTH AND IMPROVE MAINTAINABILITY. LIGHTER WEIGHT, SPACE SAVING, FORCE LIMITING INSERTION/EXTRACTION HOLD-DOWNS FOR USE WITH TODAY'S AND TOMORROW'S AVOINICS. DEVELOPMENT OF DEVICES TO EFFECTIVELY DISCHARGE ELECTROMAGNETIC FIELDS, ESPECIALLY UHF AND VHF FROM AVIONIC BOXES TO THE RACKING AND AIRFRAME. WEIGHT REDUCTION OF ALL RACKING COMPONENTS WILL BE PROVIDED WITH AN INCREASE IN PAYLOAD CAPABILITIES.
