Cryogenic superconductor electronics provides unique performance capabilities in speed and accuracy of digitization and signal processing. These capabilities enable advanced software-defined communication systems which can exceed the Objective requirements of advanced systems such as the Joint Tactical Radio System (JTRS). A key component required to effectively field superconductor electronics systems is the cryocooler. In order to achieve the requisite Size, Weight, and Power (SWaP) to fit modularly within existing systems, advanced cryopackaging approaches must be developed and implemented, coupled to the development of a SWaP-appropriate cryocooler. The proposed program addresses both cryopackaging and cryocooler developments, providing innovative development solutions leading to a demonstrable prototype applicable to JTRS.
