Abstract

The goal of this proposal is to develop a passive power factor corrector (PFC) suitable to be installed into military combat aircraft. The proposed PFC design weighs less than 20 lbs, can utilize either forced or natural convection cooling, and can operate in ambient temperatures as high as 71 °C. During the Phase I Mainstream built and tested a PFC device that met or exceeded all of the specified military requirements. During Phase II we will continue to refine the PFC design and perform selected qualification testing IAW MIL-STD-461, -704, and -810. Mainstream will work closely with the Navy and with the aircraft prime contractor to ensure a successful Phase II development effort.
