Abstract
SUPERCONDUCTING, INDUCTIVE ENERGY STORES HAVE VERY ATTRACTIVE CHARACTERISTICS FOR MANY AIR FORCE PULSED POWER APPLICATIONS. THEY HAVE VERY HIGH DENSITIES, LOW LOSSES AND CONSTANT CURRNET OUTPUT CHARACTERISTICS. UNFORTUNATELY, THEY ARE LIMITED TO RELATIVELY LOW CURRENT LEVELS, UNSUITABLE FOR SOME OF THE MOST IMPORTANT APPLICATIONS. WE PROPOSE TO DEVELOP A PULSE TRANSFORMER\ENERGY STORAGE CONCEPT WHICH COMBINES THE GOOD FEATURES OF SUPERCONDUCTING STORES WITH THE HIGH CURRENT OUTPUT OF NORMAL INDUCTORS.
