To address the Air Force’s need for a capability to test a line-replaceable unit or subsystem of ICBMs or air-delivered weapon systems in a benchtop test bed, Physical Optics Corporation (POC) proposes to advance the development of the Safeguarded Cyber Testing and Training Laboratory for Evaluation of System Security (SCyTTLES), which has been proven feasible in Phase I. This innovative cyber warfare laboratory is based on a novel combination of proven information security software and commercial hardware, an innovative hardware/software architecture with protective “airlockâ€ï¿½ feature, and an intuitive new operator interface that greatly enhances its use as an invaluable training tool. As a result, this system offers a compact, plug-and-play test bed for analyzing components (in fully-virtual and hardware-in-the-loop modes) against cyber-attack via all standard Air Force data protocols, basic protocols for aseptic, sterilization, and disposal procedures, and a means for providing relevant training to Air Force personnel. In Phase II, we will strengthen the malware testing procedure, improve system feedback through the development of analysis result displays, and enhance the ease of use by developing a graphical user interface. In addition, we will work with the Air Force Nuclear Weapons Center for technology integration and testing in Phase II.
