Abstract

The overall goal of Phase I SBIR CRONUS is to demonstrate the feasibility via simulation and enhanced with critical measurements of developing a radio waveform capable of ultra-high accuracy ranging in the 10’s of picoseconds and frequency transfer of 1E-11. Ziva proposes to exploit its previously demonstrated ps level wireless phase synchronization and two-way-time transfer (TWTT) of 10’s ps based on RF Time Reversal. This will be extended to one-way time ranging and quantified with laboratory measurements and modeled in the simulation system. The developed CRONOS simulation will be used to quantify the performance of the CRONOS system in ranging and geolocating for a range of CONOPS, exploring the expected limits where the technology will operate reliably. The focus of the baseline effort will be placed on point to point two-way time/frequency transfer and ranging. For the Option Ziva proposes to examine the impact of accuracy on a 3-hop system. Ziva will select and provide a system design and identify hardware and software necessary to build a prototype.
