Abstract

Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and other government agencies are heavily dependent upon sensors to collect data in support of critical law enforcement and intelligence missions such as Customs and Border Protection (CBP). Sensors, GPS, and communication of these sensors are vulnerable to cyber-attacks. False sensor data can be injected by spoofed messages or compromised sensors. We refer to such attacks as False Sensor Data (FSD) attacks. Existing security techniques do Nt provide a comprehensive solution for these FSD attacks. Solely depending on one technique would Nt work under various FSD attacks. To address this critical issue, Intelligent Automation, Inc. (IAI) proposes to develop SensorGuard, a multi-level data protection and anti-spoofing solution for remote sensors. SensorGuard works at multi-level (i.e., signal level, communication level, and data level) and at distributed systems (e.g., sensor Ndes, sink Ndes, and central processing server) for FSD detection. SensorGuard will enhance the accuracy of service-based sensor systems for CBP and other law enforcement and intelligence missions.
