Abstract

The objectives of Phase II are to demonstrate the effectiveness of the mainbeam nulling algorithm (MBNA) developed in Phase I under the practical conditions/restrictions imposed by AEGIS radar systems and to establish the requirements and specificationsfor an adjunct signal processor that will be integrated into the AEGIS radar system in Phase III.Radar data will be collected using an AEGIS radar and will be used to evaluate performance of the MBNA. Measured data will be analyzed to evaluate MBNA performance. New algorithms to enhance MBNA performance will be developed. These results will beintegrated into a signal processing concept which includes hardware and software interfacing issues regarding the AEGIS legacy system. In the Phase II option, an optimized signal processor architecture will be developed and the algorithm mapped into theappropriate hardware configuration.The MBNA technology will be ready at the end of Phase II for technology transition into the AEGIS radar system.
