Research Institution
Identified battlespace lines of communication (LOC) provide crucial knowledge of a surveilled environment, assisting in troop placement and maneuvering, communication network characterization, and intelligence regarding enemy movement. LOC mapping is difficult in areas with treacherous terrain conditions or limited data availability. As MTI sensors enable persistent surveillance, provide accurate geolocation of moving targets that traverse LOCs, and have foliage-penetrating capabilities useful in observing LOCs in forrested areas, it is the objective of this effort to create a solution to LOC extraction and characterization needs using MTI data products.
