Abstract

IERUS Technologies proposes to extend previous work and leverage new low-cost radio-frequeny (RF) chipsets to yield low-cost, high performance phased array antenna systems. Our optimized antenna solution will provide high gain, high frequency, and high bandwidth for high data-rate communications in harsh environments. The IERUS approach draws from commercial RF component developments brought on by the pending 5G and commercial SATCOM booms. The technology has been developed to drive the per-unit price point down without sacrificing much performance relative to other semiconductor technologies. The array development process yields tiled sub-array elements which can easily be scaled to relatively large arrays of elements. Finally, we will demonstrate environmentally hardened transmit and receive functionality as well as the possibility of self-calibration within the array, mitigating a major cost driver for large quantities of arrays.
