Abstract

The Marine Corps makes extensive use of modeling and simulation (M&S) enabled wargaming to develop new warfighting concepts, evaluate new warfighting capabilities, and test operational decisions and plans. Unfortunately, M&S tools do not readily integrate into wargaming events, are not easily configured by non-software engineers, and are not easy to monitor and control during wargame execution. To address these gaps, Charles River Analytics proposes to design and demonstrate the feasibility of Wargame Execution Management for Modeling and Simulation Systems (WarGEMMSS), a web-based software application for integrating, configuring and visualizing the output of wargame M&S tools. WarGEMMSS includes a plug-and-play application programming interface (API) that enables two-way communication with third-party M&S tools, a collaborative web interface that enables wargame planners to manage M&S tool execution and scheduling according to wargame scenarios and objectives, and a workflow management system that enables wargame planners to monitor and adjust M&S tools and visualize their outputs. We will demonstrate prototype integration of WarGEMMSS with at least two common M&S wargaming tools, such as Virtual Battlespace 3, COMMAND, MACE, or OneSAF.
