Abstract
Ground vehicle underbody blast events pose a significant threat to warfighters; therefore, there is a need to develop energy attenuating (EA) seats to mitigate these injuries. Many of the current technologies were primarily designed for the 50th percentile male. To address this critical need, Luna Innovations will investigate how anthropometric variability and changes in posture affect injury, develop a tool to accurately predict injury, and use this knowledge to optimize EA seat design to protect the full range of warfighters.
