Triton Systems, Inc. and partners will develop a stabilizer that integrates with the aft end of a fat line towed array to provide improved acoustic performance of the array, reduced degradation of the heading sensors and reduced stress and failures of components.  Arrays often operate in hydrodynamic conditions where the flow field is turbulent. Non-uniform flow causes the aft end of the array to experience low-frequency motion that negatively affects the performance and reliability of the towed array.  Triton’s device improves steadiness, is compatible with the TB-34 array, and fits within the submarine stowage tube.  Phase I efforts demonstrated performance and identified a test approach for further refinement and product development in Phase II.
