Abstract
nVision proposes that advances in ballistic computers, directional and positioning sensors, and image recognition algorithms bring a tremendous opportunity to reduce the errors in the mortar firing process, increasing the first-round accuracy and reducing the mortar operator’s workload. nVision's Phase I effort focuses on detailed trade studies, rigorous component testing, and strong systems engineering methodology to drive down the risk to exit Phase I with a well-defined sensor architecture with the major components specified to achieve the desired accuracy and probability of hit for first-round effects.
