Abstract

The Army’s Integrated Air and Missile Defense (AIAMD) Integrated Battle Command System (IBCS) developed by Northrop Grumman will fuse multiple sensors into an integrated picture for air and missile defense engagement planning and execution. One of the components of this system is the Integrated Fire Control Network Relay (IFCN) which includes a Network Enclosure Assembly (NEA). The NEA houses many critical components to enable IAMD network data communications. The NEA, which consists of 15 components from different manufacturers, is plagued with multiple issues from size, weight, cooling capacity and access for maintenance. Streamline Automation ill use model-based design and analysis to make Size, Weight, Power, and Cost (SWAP-C) improvements to the NEA, improving the reliability and availability of internal components so that they work in the harsh environment and conditions experienced by the NEA, and improving maintainability of the NEA by providing significantly improved access to perform operations and maintenance. We will draw on our previous experience developing control and data acquisition systems, and developing and testing innovative electronics cooling techniques for the Army and industrial customers.
