For deployment scenarios where the primary communication bands are disrupted, the Army requires High Frequency (HF) antenna systems for backup communications. These HF systems must be transported, typically in man-pack fashion, into the battlefield. Current high efficiency state-of-the art portable HF antennas used by the Army are heavy and time consuming to erect. Most available commercial architectures that reduce weight and are easy to assemble sacrifice RF performance for these features.  Thus, IERUS Technologies proposes developing an updated HF antenna system solution that is efficient, compact, lightweight, and easily transported, assembled and torn down when required, and has reliable and repeatable RF performance.  Over the course of this SBIR program, IERUS will fabricate and demonstrate the antenna system and will verify via testing that the performance and form factor meet the Army’s requirements. IERUS will deliver 8 units to the Army for evaluation and field trials.
