Abstract

The Air Force and entire DoD is making a focused and concerted effort to develop the next generation of hypersonic vehicles—in direct competition with other powers across the globe. This effort is one of the top two technical priorities for the DoD, and it directly addresses the Armament Directorate’s goal to increase the Reach of Blue aircraft to prosecute targets at increased range. This program is designed to adapt Triton’s novel precursors to Ultra-High Temperature Ceramics (UHTC) for use in making ceramic matrix composites and use them to fabricate and test UHTC composites for hypersonic applications in collaboration with industry-leading partners.
