Abstract

MATECH’s SiNC-1400X structural ceramic fiber product is composed of silicon nitride carbide. It is a high temperature capable ceramic fiber designed for ceramic matric composites (CMCs) with use temperatures of up to 1300C. Unlike conventional silicon carbide (SiC) ceramic fibers and SiC-matrix CMCs, SiNC-1400X fibers (and SiNC/SiNC CMCs) have unusually low and tailorable dielectric properties making them suitable for highly sensitive and specialized applications. SiNC-1400X has been commercially available for over 5 years and sold as a product to leading aerospace companies. As the detection capabilities of hostile nation states improves, the use of SiNC-1400X could become an integral component of a more comprehensive strategy to evade detection and interception, thus, protecting both manned and unmanned aerial assets.
