Abstract
IPC intends to develop and demonstrate space radiation hardened-integrated polymer photonic circuits (HIPPCs) for satellite applications ranging from small- to pico- satellite, missile systems and for industrial and nuclear power plant applications. Radiation resistant nonlinear optic polymer modulators waveguides and polymer photodetectors will be integrated onto a chip to demonstrate device operational parameters of low half wave voltages,high extinction ratios and minimal signal insetion and coupling losses at near-infrared wavelengths and high bandwidths. Gamma-rays, protons and in-situ energetic ion irradiations will be conducted to quantify the radiation hardness of the HIPPCs technology in LEO, MEO and GEO environments.
