Abstract
RESEARCH IS PROPOSED TO SURVEY THERMOPLASTIC AND REINFORCED THERMOPLASTIC MATERIALS CURRENTLY AVAILABLE WHICH HAVE GOOD PROCESSABILITY AND STRENGTH AT ELEVATED TEMPERATURES. IT IS EXPECTED THAT ONE OR MORE ECONOMICAL FABRICATION PROCESSES WILL BE EVALUATED AND A SELECTED AIRCRAFT COMPONENT WOULD BE FABRICATED TO A NET OR NEAR NET SHAPE. THE EMPHASIS WILL BE ON PROCESS ECONOMICS AND MATERIAL PROPERTIES. IT IS PROPOSED THAT THE MATERIALS WILL BE DIRECTLY APPLICABLE TO SEVERAL COMMERCIAL PRODUCTS IN THE PETROCHEMICAL, AIRCRAFT AND OTHER INDUSTRIES WHERE ELEVATED TEMPERATURES AND HIGH STRENGTHS ARE REQUIRED.
