Abstract
THE USE OF MICROBORE CAPILLARY COLUMNS FOR GAS CHROMATOGRAPHY PROMISES TO FACILITATE THE DEVELOPMENT OF AN INSTRUMENT CAPABLE OF RESOLVING AS MANY AS 15 COMPONENTS PERSECOND. THUS, MANY ANALYSES COULD BE COMPLETED IN JUST A FEW SECONDS PERMITTING, FOR THE FIRST TIME, REAL-TIME ANALYSIS BY GAS CHROMATOGRAPHY. TO TRANSLATE THIS CONCEPT INTO A PRACTICAL INSTRUMENT, WE SHALL HAVE TO REDESIGN EVERY COMPONENT OF THE GAS CHROMATOGRAPH, FROM INLET SYSTEM TO DATA SYSTEM.
