Abstract
A laser induced breakdown spectrometer (LIBS) system will be designed, calibrated, and delivered under the phase I research. This detector will be optimized for lead detection in building paints and firing range soils. The phase I system will use a commercial, portable Nd:YAG laser for plasma formation. A subsequent commercial system will be developed for phase II and will include multielemental capability.
