AbstractAs numerical simulations have grown in size and complexity, it is becoming increasingly difficult to manage the execution of the computational process and the resulting output data. Kitware proposes a co-processing analysis and visualization framework that greatly improves the ability to monitor and control simulation and data acquisition systems. Concurrent analysis enables fine temporal information to be extracted without the need to save data at a high temporal resolution. The main component of the proposed system is a library built on top of the open-source Visualization Toolkit (VTK). This library will provide data adapters and analysis routines that run in the same process space as the simulation. The open-source visualization application ParaView will be extended to configure co-processing algorithms/parameters and analyze data extracts. ParaView will provide the capability to view results and modify analysis parameters during a simulation run. This will enable analysts the capability to interactively manipulate simulations. ParaView’s remote visualization capabilities will also allow interactive manipulation of a simulation without the expense of transferring files from primary storage.
