Abstract

Boston Engineering will develop the Millimeter wave Biomimetic Unattended Ground Sensor (M2BUGS); a very small, inexpensive radio frequency sensor with biomimetic deployment packaging. M2BUGS will provide increased cyberspace situational understanding by sensing the cyber-electromagnetic environment at low-cost to the Army. M2BUGS’s modular design will allow for the rapid integration of different EM signal detectors and sensor modalities, ensuring adaptability over time as new threats emerge. As signals of interest are detected they will be logged to the onboard memory. A Low Power Wide Area Network IoT technology will be utilized to retrieve data from the deployed M2BUGS during the transient data offload times. Additionally the system will include a GPS, CPU, non-volatile memory, power management system, and allow for the inclusion of an IMU and compass if desired.
