AbstractThe object of this Phase I program is to design a continuous wave (cw) 266nm ultraviolet (uv) source using frequency-doubling of diode-pumped 532nm lasers. A primary component of the design will be efficient conversion of the 532nm light to 266nm in an external resonant optical cavity containing an appropriate nonlinear crystal. We will experimentally evaluate and compare design concepts using ammonium dihydrogen phosphate (ADP), deuterated potassium dihydrogen phosphate (KD*P) and barium borate (BBO) as nonlinear materials. The long range goal of this program is to develop a compact and efficient cw 266nm laser source in the 100mW to 1.0 W power range using diode-pumped solid-state lasers.
