Abstract
Luxtera aims to design, develop, implement, test and demonstrate an electrically controllable self-correcting and tunable arrayed waveguide grating (AWG) using nanophotonic high-index contrast waveguides. This new approach should result in order ofmagnitude improvements over current state-of-the-art technology in the following key parameters: 1) size, 2) ease of packaging, 3) cost, 4) reconfigurability and agility, and 5) power consumption. These tunable AWGs will enable lightweight, affordable, and intelligent multiwavelength optical networks for mobile platforms.
