Abstract
A concept design will be performed to allow the conversion of a 160-foot Athena Class Gunboat (PG) to a HYSWAS hull form. This work will be performed by the same team of personnel who designed and built the 27-foot HYSWAS demostration vessel QUEST under an earlier Phase II SBIR. The proposed design will provide high endurance, speeds above 40 knots in sea state 5, a large payload fraction and a range of 3000 nautical miles at 36 knots. The proposed Phase I work involves three iterations through the concept design sprial with four project review spread throughout the program. Bath Iron Works, working under a $25k subcontract, will provide the concept design of a combat systems suite for the proposed craft.
