Abstract

In this proposed MDA Phase I SBIR program, MATECH/GSM proposes to demonstrate its newly developed ZrOC fibrous 5000F structural TPS for DACS components to be used in missile defense, such as MKV, SM-3 block-2, and AKV (Agile Kill Vehicle). Prototype components will be fabricated and tested under relevant solid rocket motor conditions, ultimately bringing this material technology to a technology readiness level of seven (TRL-7) by the end of the Phase I and Phase II programs, should they be awarded. This MDA SBIR Phase I is supported by key missile propulsion manufactures ATK Elkton and Aerojet. Both ATK and Aerojet have partnered with MATECH on this SBIR and will actively participate in the evaluation of this material to solve their immediate problems.
