Abstract
Mainstream Engineering will demonstrate and develop a glucose-assisted, hydrothermal process to recycle the polyester fraction of poly-cotton. Our technology uses glucose to enhance the reactivity of cotton and a catalytic, hydrothermal reactor to convert cotton into glucose. The process leaves the polyester fraction untouched so that it can be reused in new clothes. The cotton fraction, converted to glucose, can be sold for food, animal feed, soil amendment, or renewable chemical applications.
